All About Frost's Descent

霜降，是二十四節氣中的第十八個節氣，秋季的最后一個節氣。霜降意為氣溫驟降、露水凝結成霜，是秋向冬過渡的象征。此時冷空氣活動頻繁，晝夜溫差增大，黃河流域一帶初霜出現，萬物漸趨沉寂，為冬藏做準備。

Frost's Descent is the 18th of the 24 Solar Terms and the last term of autumn. Its name means the weather gets colder and dew turns into frost. It is a sign that autumn is turning into winter. During this time, cold air comes more often, the difference between day and night temperatures becomes larger, and the first frost appears in the Yellow River area. Everything becomes quiet, getting ready for winter.

霜降的習俗多與“防寒補冬、慶豐祈福”相關，凝聚了古人順應天時的生活智慧。

1. 賞菊祛秋燥

Appreciating Chrysanthemums

“霜打菊花開”，霜降時節秋菊傲然盛放，民間自古有賞菊、飲菊花酒的習俗，既怡情養性，又有清熱潤燥之效。

“Frost makes chrysanthemums bloom.” During Frost's Descent, autumn chrysanthemums bloom beautifully. People enjoy looking at the flowers and drinking chrysanthemum tea. It is fun and good for health.

2.吃柿子

Eating Persimmons

俗話說：“霜降吃丁柿，不會流鼻涕。”此時柿子完全成熟，皮薄肉甜，富含維生素，能潤肺健脾，抵御寒涼。

There is a saying: “Eat persimmons at Frost's Descent, and you won't have a runny nose.” Persimmons are fully ripe at this time. They are sweet, soft, and full of vitamins. They help protect our bodies from the cold.

3.進補煲羊湯

Drinking Mutton Soup

南方許多地區習慣在霜降前后煲羊肉湯，加入當歸、枸杞等藥材，暖中補氣，為即將到來的寒冬積蓄能量。

In many southern places, people like to cook mutton soup with herbs like angelica and goji berries. This soup makes them warm and strong, ready for the cold winter.
