Altamaha Riverkeeper (Georgia, U.S.) along with The Center for Biological Diversity, One Hundred Miles, Skidaway Audubon, and Coastal Plain Conservation Group, submitted a petition on September 30 to the State of Georgia, urging officials to require bycatch reduction devices on all blue crab pots in near-shore waters where terrapins are frequently found. When installed on crab pot entrance funnels, these small and inexpensive devices prevent most terrapins from entering the pot, while having little to no effect on crab haul.

Black Warrior Riverkeeper (Alabama, U.S.) Staff Attorney Eva Dillard recently discussed the Alabama Surface Mining Commission's decision to suspend methane monitoring for expanding coal mines. Alabama officials have informed the federal government that they will not require methane monitoring in these mines, which pose potential explosion risks. Constellation agrees to fund and implement operational improvements and environmental projects to meet enforceable water quality standards by reducing and mitigating the impacts associated with the dam's discharge and operation on the Susquehanna River, the Chesapeake Bay, and its tributaries. The terms of the agreement include operational improvements, as well as upfront and ongoing annual payments for water quality and resiliency projects, trash and debris removal, wildlife passage, freshwater mussel restoration, dredging, and invasive species management. One thing they pushed for and achieved was a pathway to dredge the dam's reservoir, which is full and has lost its trapping capacity. In addition, Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper and Waterkeepers Chesapeake have an ongoing role in implementing aspects of the certification and settlement agreement for the next 50 years, in partnership with the Maryland Department of the Environment.

Orange County Coastkeeper (California, U.S.) along with local dock owners, has successfully recruited 1,600 native Olympia oysters through its Shell String Project! Kaysha Kenny, Marine Restoration Director at Orange County Coastkeeper, explains that one adult oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water every single day. Olympia oysters also provide habitat for fish and other marine life, help buffer coastlines against rising sea levels, and strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems. The Shell String Project aims to use collected, cured oyster shells to grow oysters on restored beds, which will improve water quality, stabilize shorelines, and support marine biodiversity for years to come.

San Antonio Bay Waterkeeper (Texas, U.S.) recently announced that Exxon Mobil will postpone its plans for a large new plastics production plant on the Gulf Coast of Texas, where it initially planned to build in Calhoun County. Tampa Bay Waterkeeper (Florida, U.S.) partnered with Suncoast Ladies Fly and Girls Inc. of Pinellas to teach young girls how to fly fish during the second annual Suncoast Ladies Fly Tournament. Tampa Bay Waterkeeper then received a donation of $1,585 from the organizers, which will be used to support their ongoing efforts.
