HBO《絕望寫手》第五季也是最終季，昨晚在洛杉磯首映。Jean Smart和Hannah Einbinder帶著全劇組走紅毯，像在完成一場漫長的告別儀式。
這劇的粉絲結構很奇特——很多人是第三季才入坑的，然后倒回去補前兩季。編劇Paul W Downs在《Variety》封面故事里解釋了為什么見好就收：「我們始終給觀眾他們需要的，而非他們想要的。」換句話說，再拖下去，就會變成觀眾想要但不需要的東西。
第五季開場承接第四季結尾：Deborah被TMZ誤報死亡，和Ava從新加坡殺回美國搞事業。Hannah Einbinder給自己前四季的排名是3-1-4-2，第五季還沒看，但她說自己是「5-3-1-4-2派」。新加入的Christopher Briney演Deborah的年輕情人，這不算劇透，媒體早就報過了。
劇組昨晚曬的合影里，Jean Smart站在中間，Hannah Einbinder摟著她肩膀。有粉絲在評論區寫：「她們吵了四季，終于學會怎么一起工作了。」
