1金2銅！寧波諾丁漢大學在全國大學生擊劍錦標賽再創佳績

11月2日至8日，第29屆全國大學生擊劍錦標賽激戰正酣。寧波諾丁漢大學代表隊捷報頻傳，取得甲組男子花劍團體冠軍、甲組男子花劍個人季軍以及甲組女子花劍團體季軍的優異成績。

本次賽事由中國學生體育聯合會主辦，設有男子、女子組花劍、重劍、佩劍三大劍種的個人賽與團體賽，共吸引來自全國105所高校的762名選手同場競技。

寧諾代表隊在本屆比賽中表現出色，男、女花劍團體成績均實現歷史性突破。寧諾于2021年開設擊劍課程，建立起較為完善的教學與訓練體系，是浙江省最早開展擊劍運動的高校之一。學校于2022年組建校擊劍隊，并迅速在全國大學生擊劍錦標賽中嶄露頭角：2023年斬獲男子花劍個人冠軍，本屆比賽更勇奪男子花劍團體冠軍，展現出強勁發展勢頭。

男子擊劍隊隊長、數學與應用數學專業學生謝其志在本次比賽中表現突出，個人賽獲季軍，并帶領團隊勇奪團體冠軍。

“能取得這樣的成績，我感到非常激動。不論是專業的教練指導、體能訓練，還是比賽期間的后勤保障，學校都為我們提供了有力支持，讓我們能夠全力以赴，發揮出最佳水平。”

女子擊劍隊隊長、英語與應用語言學專業學生張瀧尹帶領隊伍收獲季軍。她分享道，即便比賽結束，半決賽和季軍爭奪戰仍讓她印象深刻：

“半決賽面對實力強勁的隊伍時，我們在細節和心態上都沒處理好，遺憾失利。但這場比賽讓我們看清了自己的不足。進入季軍爭奪賽后，我們完全調整狀態，放松心態，全力以赴。”

教練俞利斌充分肯定了整個團隊的表現：“從備賽到比賽結束，我看到學生們對目標更加明確，也更有決心去完成每一次挑戰。他們在面對時間緊張、傷病等困難時依然堅持不懈，這正是體育精神的最好體現。”

在寧諾，體育不僅是一門課程，更是賦能學生成長的重要途徑。通過體育，學生在挑戰與合作中不斷提升自信與領導力，為未來的學習與人生打下堅實基礎。

UNNC fencing team shines at national championships

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) fencing team delivered outstanding performances at the 29th National University Students Fencing Championships from 2 to 8 November. The team claimed the Men’s Foil Team Championship (Group A), Men’s Foil Individual Bronze (Group A), and Women’s Foil Team Bronze (Group A).

Organised by the China Student Sports Federation, the tournament featured individual and team events in foil, épée, and sabre for both men and women. A total of 762 athletes from 105 universities across the country competed fiercely for top honours.

UNNC achieved historic breakthroughs in both men’s and women’s foil team events. In the Men’s Foil Team Final, the UNNC fencers faced the strong Shenzhen University team, renowned for their impressive individual results and overall strength. Through excellent teamwork and unwavering determination, UNNC secured the championship title with a score of 45-38.

As one of the first universities in Zhejiang Province to launch a fencing programme in 2021, UNNC has since developed a comprehensive training and teaching system. The university established its fencing team in 2022 and secured an individual men’s foil championship at the National University Students Fencing Championships in 2023, and this year’s men’s foil team championship, as well as silver and bronze titles in previous years—marking a period of rapid growth and success for fencing at UNNC.

Qizhi Xie, captain of the men’s fencing team and a Mathematics and Applied Mathematics student, stood out in the competition, earning an individual bronze and leading his team to gold in the team event. He said, “I’m thrilled with our performance as a team. My teammates and I have achieved a breakthrough for the university. The university has provided us with a student-centred high-performance programme, which includes training from professional coaches, strength and conditioning sessions, kit, equipment, and comprehensive support throughout the competition, allowing us to fully focus on giving our best in every match.”

Longyin Zhang, captain of the women’s fencing team and an English language and Applied Linguistics student, reflected on some of the most memorable moments: “The semi-final and the bronze medal match left the deepest impression. In the semi-final, we didn’t manage the details well and felt a bit tense facing a strong opponent, narrowly missing the win. But that match helped us see where we could improve. Going into the bronze medal match, we adjusted our mindset, relaxed, and gave it our all with exceptional decisiveness.”

Reflecting on the team’s progress, coach Libin Yu commented, “From preparation to the end of the tournament, the biggest change I saw in the students was their clearer goals and stronger determination to do their best. Sport teaches perseverance in the face of challenges. Students have to balance their academic and sporting commitments, managing tight schedules, intensive training, and even injuries. When they achieve success and win medals, that truly reflects the spirit of sport: overcoming adversity.”

At UNNC, sport is more than just a activity; it is an essential part of student development. Through sport, students continuously learn key skills needed after graduation and they are transferable to the workplace, including resilience, confidence, teamwork, and leadership. By embracing challenges, they lay a strong foundation for their future studies and life beyond university.
