揚基游擊手Anthony Volpe的復出倒計時已經啟動。球隊總經理Brian Cashman確認，這位24歲球員將在周二開啟小聯盟康復賽，預計完成55次打擊后重返大聯盟陣容。
Volpe的回歸意味著有人必須離開。Sports Illustrated的Jovan Alford把矛頭指向了外野手Randal Grichuk——這位生涯轟出212發全壘打的老將，加盟揚基后前12次打擊顆粒無收。
「Granted, it's still early in the season, so there's a chance that Grichuk could find the fountain of youth and get on track,」Alford寫道，「But the fact that he's not hitting anything off lefties, which is his strong suit, is not a good sign.」
諷刺的是，Grichuk正是以打擊左投見長（生涯對左投OPS .815），揚基簽他也是看中這點。但開季至今他連老本行都丟了，而 Triple-A 的Jasson Domínguez正打出.341打擊率外加7次盜壘——球迷已經在問：為什么留著Grichuk而不是他？
Cashman的算盤很現實：Ryan McMahon和Jose Caballero動不了，J.C. Escarra和Ben Rice的替代方案更不可能。34歲的Grichuk拿著小聯盟合約來投石問路，現在石頭沉了，路也沒了。
