2026年4月16日出版的第8期《求是》雜志發表了中共中央總書記、國家主席、中央軍委主席習近平的重要文章《推動全民閱讀，建設書香社會》。
An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on promoting nationwide reading and building a book-loving society was published on April 16, 2026. The article by Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, was published in this year's eighth issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.

新華社發布的關于政府工作報告新詞匯注釋中對“書香社會”做過如下解釋：“指優質出版物供給更加豐富，社會基礎閱讀設施更加完善，特殊群體基本閱讀需求得到更好滿足，社會主義核心價值觀深入人心，在全社會形成愛讀書、讀好書、善讀書的良好風尚。”
